UT Austin admitted 29.1% of applicants for fall 2023, compared with 40.2% for fall 2013.1 The rate is 11.1 percentage points lower than a decade earlier, though it moved in both directions along the way, declining in 6 of the 10 annual changes.1 Applications rose 73% to 66,109, and the university admitted 19,253 students, up from 15,335.1
For fall 2023 the university was test-optional; among SAT submitters the middle 50% scored 610 to 760 in math.1
Texas residents pay $11,656 in tuition and fees for 2025-26 and nonresidents pay $44,816.2 The in-state price is above the $9,727 median of Texas's 36 public bachelor's colleges.2 The average net price for aided students in 2024-25 was $8,979 for families earning $0 to $30,000, $12,412 for $48,001 to $75,000 and $30,480 for incomes over $110,000.2
